ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Introduction
The Creative Seed CIC is a North East based arts organisation, established in March 2009,
the company primarily operates across South Tyneside and Sunderland as well as working
on projects throughout the region. The company manages and runs a range of creative and
cultural activities from 2 venues in the Southwick area of North Sunderland, Carnival House
and The Old Library Building. The company operates with a board of 4 directors and a team
of 6 full time staff members. As well as venue-based activities the Creative Seed develops
and produces outdoor carnival/parade and festival events in partnership with and for regional
councils, community groups and cultural organisations.
Environmental policy
The Creative Seed is committed to improving its environmental performance with continual
improvement. The management team works with staff members, service users and partners
to find new ways to progressively and practically improve the working culture as it relates to
the company’s environmental impact. The Creative Seed CIC will comply with all relevant legislation
The company will implement a workable and practical training program for its staff to raise
awareness of environmental issues, allowing them to be informed and ready to support the
company to progress and improve its performance.
The Creative Seed’s key commitments to reducing its environmental impacts are -
Minimise waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible
Minimise toxic emissions through efficient planning of travel and energy resources
Actively promote recycling both internally within the company and externally to service users
and suppliers
Source and promote products that minimise the environmental impact through their
production and distribution.
Meet or exceed environmental legislation that relates to The Creative Seed CIC
Where possible the company will use an accredited program to offset greenhouse gas
emissions generated by our activities.
